Pick one activity to do every two weeks or every month, record the results, and keep track all year.  Post them and see if the children can guess where the picture was taken.  The list could also be of the 10 best features of the place.  One way to introduce journal writing is through the natural world.  Henry David Thoreau, John Muir, Aldo Leopold, and Rachel Carson all used journals, and for the same reason children should keep journals.  Our role is to encourage, inspire, prompt, provide opportunity, help, and guide.
